Fun with MythBusters and water

A few weeks ago I had the opportunity to review MythBusters Weird World of Water Science Activity Kit from Elmers, winner of the Family Fun Magazine 2009 T.O.Y. First I must say we LOVE watching MythBusters and my boys LOVE anything to do with science so there was some excitement surrounding this when it arrived in the mail. However when it came time to play with it my 6 year old was the only one who showed interest!

The kit comes with an Activity guide that gives you clear step by step directions and some fun facts tossed in. It also includes:

-15 beads-3 pieces balsa wood-2 plastic 1 liter bottles-1 bag glitter confetti-Straw-Clear tube-Cylinder-Fin holder-Funnel-Nose cone-Pipette-Stopper assembly-Red and yellow food coloring-Vortex connector

The kit is geared for children 9 and up but we found one of the experiments that would be easiest for him, I settled on Myth of the Deadly Vortex. It went quite well and we had fun trying to figure out if we busted the myth or not...he said yes so that is what we are going with.

We also tried the Liquid Rainbow with so so results, he was anxious thus the kit being geared towards older children, but we had fun.

The other experiments included are Myth of the Pantry Projectile and Myth of the Man who Could walk on Water. While the experiments are not overly complex this would be a wonderful gift for any older child who loves science or the MythBusters as they would get the most out of the projects. My younger son had fun but lost interest quickly and was not interested in busting any myths.

The only compensation received for this review post is a sample of the product from Team Mom. The opinions expressed at my2boyz are those of blog author only.
